Divided Field for Palestine, 2008
Antony Gormley was born in 1950. He studied archaeology, anthropology and history of art at Trinity College, Cambridge before travelling to India to study Buddhism for three years. He received his MA from the Slade in 1979. He has revitalised the human image in sculpture through his investigations into the body as a place of memory and transformation, often using his own body as subject, tool and material. A Turner Prize winner in 2004 for his Field for the British Isles, his sculptures and installations have been exhibited in many museums and galleries around the world. Lives and works in London.
